Happy Birthday to Me

Happy birthday to me! Yesterday was my birthday and I am now officially in the last year of my 30's. And while I don't feel any different than I did two days ago, I can't help but feel the hands of time creeping down the back of my neck! And it's not that 40 is old. It's amazing how your point of view changes the older you get. That magic number that we once thought of as "old age" gets a little higher with each passing year. To me, 60 and 70 aren't even old anymore! It's just the thought of 40, the sound of 40, the reality of 40 that astounds me now. For all intents and purposes, my life is most likely half over and I still feel like I should be headed to my old job at the beach (driving my old 70's Monte Carlo with the swivel seats and choosing a major for college!!!) So with much thought and consideration I have come up with a solution to this stress. I have decided that since my 20's were geared towards fun, partying and the early stages of marriage and family, and since my 30's were mainly focused on children, and since it is evident to anyone with eyes that for neither decade, (particularly this last one) was EVER one in which I took any kind of care of myself, I have been working to change that. And I have decided that the one thing that would make my 40's great would be if I were healthier and more active than the previous two decades. I have made some serious changes for the better already. My birthday gift to myself this year is to keep up those changes and continue to make a concious effort to meet 40 next year healthier than I have been in the last 15 years. I don't think there is a gift I would like better. Happy Birthday to me!

Summertime

Happy 4th of July and Happy Summer!
Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine so far. I haven't posted in a while as we have been doing "summer" things. We have also been enjoying rest and relaxation at the lake. Hope you are all doing the same. I remember when I was a kid and the summer seemed like it lasted forever. I am older now and I know better so I don't want to waste a day of it!!
Enjoy it while it's here!
